welcome to intrepidity! we are a faux style superhero community, based in new york city! what does "faux-style superhero" mean? it means all of our characters are original but have the credits of characters you've seen and loved in comics, tv shows and movies. this allows our members the freedom to explore a new character with really cool powers without being tied to difficult-to-track decades of character history.

like any other community on the server, we want to fill our ranks with friendly and welcoming members! being a dick is never cool, and crossing the ic/ooc line is a massive no. of course feel free to get as messy and wild as you'd like but stay in character. don't bully people ooc or throw a fit when things don't go your way, long story short: don't be blurry. come to the mods if you have a problem that can't be amicably resolved and we will do our best to find a solution.

we will be a covid-19 free community. covid happened, but a vaccine was devloped and deployed. in a world of batman and tony stark, there's no way a virus would last forever.

while we are a community of out of this world superpowers, any cv credits that have mind control or mind altering powers need to be handled responsibly. those powers are not an excuse to god-mod, to coerce another writer into doing something you want, or to force romance. be smart and respectful to one another, and always make sure you've talked with any other writer ahead of time and gotten consent before touching those kinds of powers.

To apply you will need:

⇢ an ic or ooc username, without any extra characters, numbers or symbols

⇢ a backdated ic friends-only post that is available for members to comment

⇢ a backdated ooc bio post with comments screened. this bio post should contain some facts about your character and in particular their cv credit claims & powers.

⇢ examples are required we'd like to see at least 1 scene example and 1 narrative/entry

if your application is deleted you have been rejected. we will not respond to comments asking why you were rejected, the simple answer is: we didn't feel like you were a good fit for the community. if there is any problem with your application, credits, examples, etc that is easily fixable we will reach out to you about them before accepting you.

we don't want to stifle creativity here, and want to allow people to have fun with new, original characters, but there are a few things to keep in mind as you get to work! there will be no age limitation for cv credits.

absolutely no white-washing will be allowed. we know there are a lot of comic runs, tv shows, movies with a lot of different interpretations, but look at how the character was originally debuted. we do otherwise encourage more diversity with traditionally non-poc cv credits!

the character limit per writer is three and you must disclose all characters to the mod team.

we allow villain credits, but if they're villains is completely up to you! maybe catwoman wants to use those feline powers for good, who knows? on the flipside, a traditionally heroic cv credit could be used for a villain, anything is possible!

we are only going to allow one cv credit per character! cv credits should also have an established, referenceable wiki page detailing powers, abilities and items! we will allow cv credits from the big names like marvel, dc, dark horse, image but if you have a question on if your cv credit from another source is okay, just ask us in the dropbox!

your character should be completely original! that means no, batman didn't tragically lose his parents in an alleyway, however, on the flip-side: someone like daredevil isn't daredevil without being blind, but maybe he was born blind instead of being blinded in an accident. just have fun and be creative with bending these powers and histories around! this also means that properties don't matter! marvel, dc, darkhorse, screw it! it's a giant crossover! this world is a playground for catwoman to be best friends with jean grey, don't feel restricted by the comic lore!

ACTIVITY REQUIREMENTS after being added you have three days to post some kind of activity! we require one form of activity a month! we know times are weird right now and we don't want to be sticklers on activity, but we also won't let popular credits be hogged. YOUR ACTIVITY CAN BE (mostly) anything! an instagram post, a series of tweets, a mood board, a narrative, a playlist, or even a scene. we want to recommend writing over anything else, but for now we'll allow any kind of update. however - you cannot use a social media post several months in a row! There will be a mid-month check in and members will have several days to respond to that, or will be up for immediate removal. activity based removals will happen with the last add cycle of the month. if you have been removed for inactivity, we must see some form of activity before you are readded! squads, teams, etc! every now and then there comes a time where you just have to get the band back together because you can't fight the giant monster eating the rockefeller center alone. team ups are the backbone of so many comic arcs, from the avengers to suicide squad it's just a part of the superhero/supervillain thing. squads will be player-run groups that run their own plots, events and missions cocurrent to the main community's plot. mods are here to help plan and make sure everything comes together, but we won't do everything.

PLOTS AND HAPPENINGS there will be mod-run plots and events that happen monthly, focusing on a variety of concepts! these plots can range from a local threat, to heading out across the world to take care of a threat, and the only limit will be your imagination. some plots might be on-going for several months depending on how large-scale they are, and some dastardly evil-doers might go away for a little bit, but pop up for a reappearance later on! we also want to encourage our members to create their own events! local crime fighting, parties, events, anything you can think of! we will have a space for you to come chat with us about your ideas and can give you feedback as you work on them to make sure they fit in with our community plot goals! once again, the sky is the limit, and we're operating in a world of superheroes and crazy powers, don't be afraid to go wild. nyc can always be rebuilt. want to create your own squad? we would like to see our current squads fill up before new ones are introduced, and we don't want to see 5 variations of the young avengers but if you have an idea please come talk to us in the dropbox! leaders are going to be in charge of creating regular plots for their squads, with mod approval, and while these will be announced well in advance, if you can't consistently participate in planned events like that, perhaps joining a squad isn't for you!
